Poland advances to the quarter-final

(14/05/2012) After a confident victory in the first game, the second leg seemed mostly a formality and indeed that proved quite true. The game overall was very interesting and dynamic, with lots of action close to goal. Poland controlled the game, but Bulgaria played with a lot of ambition. The end result was 3:2 for Poland, but the score could have been much higher, as Polish strikers couldn't hit the target, hitting, for example, the crossbar three times. The Poles took the lead in the first half after a goal from Grzesiek Stępień. Bulgaria tied before half time. In the second half Poles went again in the lead and then extended it to 3:1 after goals from Jarek Brycz and Łukasz Bagiński. Before the final whistle Bulgarians managed to get one back and the game ended with a marginal win of the Polish side, which allowed a number of subs enter the pitch.

In the quarter-final Poland will face a presumably much tougher opponent - Romania, so we count on seeing some very good football. The dates will be set soon.

Great win to start the play-offs

(08/05/2012) Poland started the knock-out stage very effectively with a 4:1 away win against Bulgaria. The Polish side dominated the game, especially in the first half which they won 3:0. At the beginning of the second half, a Bulgarian striker managed to get past Wojtek Żmuda and went on goal. Wojtek caught up with him, but fouled him from behind in the penalty area getting a red card and giving Bulgaria a chance to get back into the game. Bulgaria scored and their hopes for a good score rejuvenated. However, a quick response putting Poland again by three goals in front ruined these hopes immediately. The game ended 4:1 and the goal scorers for Poland were Paweł Pietrzak, Marek Piekarski, Jarek Brycz and Łukasz Bagiński. Such a result of the first game puts Poland in a very favourable position before the return leg.

Effective conclusion of the regular season

(01/05/2012) Poland will enter play-offs with confidence boosted after a 9:0 victory against UK. The English team played only with 10 men and did not stand a chance against a very strong Polish side which dominated the whole game. Despite letting in 9 goals the English keeper had a very good game stopping a number of very good shots and saving the English from a double digit score. Poles were on the attack from the first to the last minute of the game scoring 4 goals in the first half and 5 goals in the second one. The scorers were: Paweł Pietrzak - 3 goals, Marcin Tarasiewicz - 2, Łukasz Bagiński - 2 and Łukasz Fiedoryszyn as well as Jarek Brycz with one goal each.

Two days earlier, on Sunday, Poland beat Slovenia 4:3 and the scorers were: Łukasz Bagiński - 2 as well as Krystian Kęciek and Michał Izak with one goal each.

Poland beats Estonia

(17/04/2012) As expected, Poland dominated on the pitch throughout the game against Estonia. The 1:0 lead after the first half did not reflect this, as the Poles missed a lot of very good chances to score. The second half was much better and overall the game ended 6:0 with two goals by Łukasz Fiedoryszyn, and one each by Waldek Fiedoryszyn, Krystian Kęciek, Grzesiek Stępień and Wojtek Żmuda.

Poles continues their good series before Easter

(04/04/2012) In the three games preceding Easter, played over just 5 days, Poland won twice and got one draw. To start the good series, Poles firmly beat Cyprus 4:1 with a hat trick from Łukasz Bagiński and the first goal of the season for Michał Izak. In the second game, Poland was close to beating Bulgaria as they went into a 2:0 lead after goals by Paweł Pietrzak and Maciek Preidl. Unfortunately lack of concentration later on cost them two points as Bulgaria managed to get back and tie the game 2:2. Finally, Poland crashed Austria 8:2 after a fantastic performance from Paweł Pietrzak with 5 goals and Marcin Tarasiewcz with a hat trick. If Poland continues to play like this, a place in the top four at the end of the regular season is not excluded.

Poland beat Sweden thanks to a late goal

(26/03/2012) After a very tight game Poland beat Sweden 2:1. Swedes dominated the game in the first half creating a few good chances, but they managed to capitalise only once. A good cross was hit on goal but bounced off a crossbar. However, the rebound was picked up by a Swedish attacker who gave the goalie no chance to react. The second half was much better for the Polish side who finally managed to put some pressure on Sweden. Unfortunately, after another faul on him from a Swedish defender, Jarek Brycz retaliated and got a red card for it. The Swedes looked like they believed nothing bad could happen to them in that game, but Poland, one man short,  kept pressing on. This paid back towards the end of the game when goals from Krystian Szekalski and Waldek Fiedoryszyn gave Poles a victory 2:1.

Here you'll find some photos from the game.
